Christmas Prayer,
Gracious Father God, thank you so much for this indescribable gift you have given to us in Your Son, Jesus!
In Him, You showed us clearly that with You, a promise made is a promise kept! Help us never to forget that truth and to allow it to embolden us for the mission You have called us to complete with You.
In Jesus, You have given us Your light; changing who we are and defining what we do in Christ! This Christmas, please remind us to shine brightly for you everywhere and in every way.
You have shown us Your love by sending your Son to us; and have called us to love others like He loves. Thank you for Your love IN US that flows THROUGH US to people AROUND US.
In Him, You have given us hope that strengthens us to live with Him and like Him in this world that desperately needs to see His promised light and love. May our hope never falter as we wait for His return.
Lord God, enable us to, “hold tightly, without wavering, to the hope we affirm,” knowing that You “can be trusted to keep Your promise.” Put in our minds “ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” Remind us to “not neglect our meeting together, … but to encourage each other, especially now that the day of Your return is drawing near.”
Maintain our focus this Christmas on these blessed truths so that we can truly celebrate the first Advent of Jesus while anticipating His second Advent - when He returns to take us home! Glory to His name forever! AMEN
