Do You Want A Personal Relationship With God?
The Bible makes it very clear that there is a God and that this God desires to be in relationship with us. However, there is a problem. It's called sin. To be clear, sin is anything we say, do, or think that is displeasing to God. Each of us know in our hearts that we have "sinned". Not one of us can claim to be perfect. Not one of us can claim to be without sin. But here's the problem - the Bible says that our sins have separated us from God! Not only that, that our sins have condemned us before a holy God leaving Him no alternative except to punish us for our sins. That sounds pretty scary. Is there hope?
YES! The Bible says that "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). What did Christ's death on the cross do for my sin and yours? The Bible teaches that Jesus was perfect because He was the Son of God. Because He was perfect, He did not have to die for His own sins. Thus, when He died on the cross He was able to pay for the sins of others. And that's exactly what He did! When Jesus died on the cross He paid the penalty not for His own sins, but for ours! And God the Father declared that Jesus' sacrifice on the cross was an acceptable means for paying the penalty for our sins.
But you still need to ask for forgiveness. You still need to confess to the Lord that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. So, let me ask you... Have you ever had a time in your life when you placed your full trust and faith in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of your sins? If not, do it today! tell the Lord that you want to be in right relationship with Him, that you are sorry for your sins, and ask Him to forgive your sins - past, present, and future - because of what Jesus did for you on the cross, and declare your desire to live for Him.
If that represents your heart, would you consider praying this prayer even right now?
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus alone can save me from the penalty of my sins. Please come into my life and forgive me of my sins - past, present, and future - because of what Jesus did for me on the cross. Help me to live my life for You. Thank You for doing what You have promised. In Jesus' name, Amen.
